UrLine

What UrLine does with your voice.

UrLine asks for a microphone, so this page says plainly what is recorded, what is sent to Google, what is kept, and how to remove all of it. You should be able to read this before you decide to sign up, not after.

Your voice, while you are speaking

When you press a cue and speak, the live microphone stream goes through UrLine's own server to Google Cloud Speech-to-Text, which returns the words you said. That audio is not saved. It exists only for as long as the recognition takes, and then it is gone. Speaking is limited to 15 minutes of connected recognition a day.

The reference voice

By default the voice that reads a revealed line is your own device's, which speaks locally and sends nothing anywhere. Only if you choose a studio voice in Settings does that one line of English text get sent to Google's Gemini text-to-speech service. The audio that comes back is cached so the same line is never paid for twice; that cache holds the line's audio, and neither your recordings nor anything identifying you.

The dialogue you import

The text of a script you paste is sent to Google Cloud Translation to produce the cue in your language. That is the only reason it leaves the server, and it happens once, when you import.

What is kept

Your scripts, practice history, favorites, and notebook are stored in Google Firebase under your account. One recording is kept only when you explicitly choose "Keep this take" on a favorite, and a kept take is capped at 45 seconds. Every other recording you make is discarded after it has been turned into text.

What is never logged

The content of your lessons — the dialogue, your cues, and what you said — is excluded from UrLine's operational logs. Those logs record whether a request succeeded, how long it took, and why it failed, so the service can be kept working.

Deleting everything

Settings has a delete control that removes your account, every script, session, note, favorite, and any kept recording. It asks you to type the phrase out in full, because it cannot be undone and there is no backup to restore from.

Who processes your data

UrLine runs on Google Cloud and uses Google Firebase for accounts and storage, Google Cloud Speech-to-Text for recognition, Google Cloud Translation for cues, and Google's Gemini text-to-speech for the optional studio voice. UrLine does not sell data, does not run advertising, and has no analytics or tracking scripts. There is no third party beyond Google in the list above.

UrLine is an independent project, not a company. If you want your data removed and cannot reach the control in Settings, or you have any question this page does not answer, get in touch.
